Former thespian Amy Jacobs has dedicated more than four years to working with children and families in therapy. Amy offers a creative approach to therapy with her diverse background in musical theatre and Master Degree in Social Work. She has worked in various fields of therapy, from working with schools, community centers, domestic violence shelters, to private contracting for families. Amy has spent time out of the country working with immigrants and refugees, dedicating herself to families who needed help most. She helps clients feel comfortable, safe, and at ease. Welcoming clients of all different backgrounds, Amy creates innovative approaches for each client tailored to their specific needs.

Outside of work with her clients, she continues to advocate for mental health by working with Tony Award winning composer Jeff Marx on an upcoming project promoting mental health awareness. She has also spoken at several therapy related seminars and trainings at major institutions such as Loyola University Chicago, Children's Research Triangle, and Lydia Home Association.

 

My treatment specialties include: complex trauma; attachment; emotional dysregulation or constriction; relationship problems; sexual orientation or gender issues; parenting coaching; and immigration & migration issues. 

My interpersonal style is one of unconditional acceptance, honesty and humor. Clients thrive in response to my natural inclination to see and encourage their best and highest potential. My use of evidence based practices combined with a relational approach ensures that my clients are able to work through their struggles in an environment that is compassionate and professional.

I use cognitive and behavioral interventions when appropriate to assist my clients to develop practical skills and move through challenging life situations.
